A Night Shoot With the Digital Divas

Illuminated by Kathy M. Winter for Kathy Captures Life

I recently joined another local photography club called the Digital Divas. Last week, we met up at the University of Tampa for night photography practice.

This set-up came about courtesy of fellow photographer, April. At first I was just shooting the empty scene, focusing on the meandering sidewalk and empty benches, when April suggested that my daughter (not generally an eager participant, but who did amazingly well) enter the scene and stay as still as possible (for a 7-yr-old,anyway) under the lamp-post.

I really like the effect, which was touched up in Photoshop’s Raw editor, and then hit with a Pioneer Woman Photography action called Soft and Faded. I adjusted the opacity a bit to bring up a hint of color.
